  • Kielder Water & Forest Park & activities. The perfect location for Kielder Winter Wonderland (booking essential)

This lovely, spacious, refurbished 200-year-old stone cottage is in a truly beautiful location, with stunning views over Kielder Water.

Otterstone is the perfect base for fishing, walking, cycling, and simply relaxing. It’s a favourite area with stargazers due to the lack of street lighting.

There are two double bedrooms and can accommodate up to four.

Slate flooring, log burning stove, enclosed gardens and french windows looking over the water add to the charm of this delightful cottage.

There are excellent walks on the doorstep around the reservoir and fishing, woodlands trails, cycling, a swimming pool, and water sports are all within the immediate vicinity.

There is an abundance of wildlife including Roe Deer and red squirrels. There is also a Birds of Prey Centre nearby.

positive review  Otterstone is a beautiful cottage, perfect for a peaceful getaway. We visit every year and feel so lucky to spend time here enjoying walks in the forest with our dog, watching the wildlife or simply enjoying the views over the dam with a morning cuppa. The owners are really friendly and accommodating, every time we visit there is something new to see. Looking forward to our next stay.

positive review  We had a great family holiday with our 4 dogs and 2 kids at Farthing Cottage - having an enclosed front and back garden was great and the location is fantastic for getting out and about to places like Kielder Forest and visiting some great English Heritage sites - Belsay Castle was our favourite! The cottage has a lovely warm feeling to it and we needed for nothing the week we were there. There's a big Tesco in Hexham and the local Co-Op (in Bellingham) has all the other stuff you'd need - we'll be back! Thanks to Margaret for allowing our extra dog when we were let down at short notice too - that really helped us and saved some stress!

5 star review  Just returned from a lovely weeks stay at Farthing Cottage. The cottage is beautiful and on walking through it's door you can feel the history seeping out of it's walls. It really is a quirky magical place. My boys remarked that it was a bit like stepping back in time and you really do pick up from that from the decor and furnishings. Whilst none of us could get signal on our mobile phones (not a problem for me, but my two teenagers might disagree)the addition of wifi in the cottage certainly made it easier to plan our trips out. The cottage came very well equipped with everything that we needed, microwave/dishwasher,washer,fridge freezer and all utensils. and the beds were super comfy after our days out walking. There are two book cases filled with books and plenty of board games too. There is plenty to do without having to drive too far from the cottage, we visited several English heritage sites that are in the area and there are beautiful riverside walks just ten minutes from the cottage door. The surrounding area is beautiful and the place is just so quiet, I found myself getting up very early in the morning just to enjoy the sound of the early morning birdsong while the rest of my family slept. My boys also appreciated the opportunity to make use of the swimming pool at nearby Riverdale Hall Hotel (£15 for a weeks family pass). We weren't blessed with particularly great weather and didn't get to witness the beautiful starry dark skies that people talk about of this area, which is a pity but we wrapped up with jumpers and raincoats and it didn't spoil the beauty of the place. Farthing Cottage really is a hidden gem, I really hope I get to come back one day.

5 star review  Emma and I had our Honeymoon there 18 May 2012 with our old dog Prince who sadly is no longer with us. The Cottage was exceptional and we got a gift from the Owner because of our special stay, the view is fantastic and we enjoyed our breakfast's on the patio. Weather was gorgeous with peace and quiet.
